  • Good Neighbors Guideline and Policies

This is the policy of Righteous Living’s commitment to being good neighbors.

It is crucial to the long-term success of any recovering person to adopt a new set of skills for approaching a life of recovery. One of the most important is being a part of a community and adopting certain pro-neighbor behaviors and attitudes, such as "Love thy neighbor as thy self."

    1. You represent yourself and should do so in such a manner that you exude excellence and humility. Be proud that you are overcoming an addiction but humble in your attitude toward others.

    2. You represent Righteous Living. Our goal is to give you a chance to overcome your obstacles and prepare you for a sober life. We plan to be here for generations. Think and act beyond yourself.

    3. You represent recovering addicts everywhere. The stigma of addiction remains despite decades of public education. Although community members support your recovery, people still struggle with recovery residents being in their neighborhood. A part of your mission is to demonstrate the strength and character it takes to change for the better.

The following guidelines will help you to live in harmony with our neighbors and to demonstrate excellent recovery behaviors. Specific Rules for Righteous Living:

    1. We shall be respectful and courteous to our neighbors.

    2. We shall keep noise to a reasonable level for the residential neighborhood.

    3. We shall refrain from using inappropriate language.

    4. We shall keep the yard and surroundings of the residence free from trash or debris.

    5. We shall only smoke in designated smoking areas outside of the residence and utilize smoking receptacles.

    6. We shall be respectful of our neighbors and responsive to their concerns. We will encourage them to call Righteous Living staff if there are any problems that disrupt the peaceful enjoyment of their properties or cause them concern (Any resident who is approached by a neighbor with a concern will notify housing staff).

When residents feel they are ready to transition, they may terminate their resident agreement by giving a 30 day written notice prior to the ending date of the agreement. Management may terminate or refuse to renew their agreement for, and only for, serious or repeated violations for material terms of the agreement.
